Offshore Hydrogen Windfarm
We conducted a feasibility study and created a conceptual design for an offshore windfarm which would convert electricity to hydrogen gas offshore by electrolysis, using an electrolyser plant at the windfarm. The design included a 400km large diameter steel pipeline to transport the “green” hydrogen gas onshore.
When considering offshore wind to produce hydrogen gas, depending on the distance from shore and the size of the windfarm we can determine whether it is generally more economical to move the energy onshore using a power cable and building an onshore electrolyser plant or to directly convert the electricity to hydrogen gas offshore and transport through a steel pipeline.
On the same project we produced a CAPEX / OPEX estimate for the works to be completed.
