The steel used in hydrogen pipelines needs to be carefully selected to ensure safety and to maintain the integrity of the pipeline throughout the pipelines lifespan. Factors such as steel grade, fracture toughness and fatigue capacity in a high-pressure hydrogen environment have to be thoroughly considered in addition to other requirements of the relevant international standards.
