The cost of repurposing an existing natural gas pipeline to transport hydrogen is a fraction of the cost of a new build pipeline.  However, there are many safety and design parameters that have to be carefully considered before such a transition can take place.  StreamTec can assist the pipeline owner in a combination of the following ways:

• To evaluate and assess the condition of the pipeline or network system.
• To manage collection, screening and processing of the data needed for evaluation.
• To review and evaluate the data and provide the weak points of the system that may require upgrading, and at what % H2 blend such investments would be needed.
• Create a new Design Basis (H2/gas flow, pressure, temperature, % H2 etc), 
• Carry out a Risk Analysis and maintain a project risk register 
• Define missing information (eg. to arrange inspections to confirm condition, to arrange additional material lab tests, manage intelligent pigging programs etc.) 
• Offer advice in special issues related to Hydrogen pipelines (eg. weld integrity, materials testing, ECA or compressor selection).
• Develop and manage hydrogen test programmes, including management of test laboratories
• Manage and control the certification process itself with an internationally recognised TPI.
