Offshore Wind Energy to Hydrogen

Feasibility study and a conceptual design for offshore wind energy to hydrogen; converting electricity to hydrogen with the electrolysis offshore.  The design included feeder lines and a 400km large diameter backbone pipeline to transport the “green” hydrogen gas ashore together with the CAPEX/OPEX cost estimates.

When considering offshore wind energy to hydrogen, assessments considering distance and windfarm size are made to determine whether it is generally more economical to transport the energy ashore using a power cable with an onshore electrolyser plant or to directly convert the electricity to hydrogen offshore and transport through a steel pipeline.
