Richard Taylor
Richard is Offshore Construction Manager at StreamTec Solutions AG, bringing more than a decade of expertise in offshore installation and construction management.
Richard has a Masters degree in Civil Engineering Design and Management. He started his professional career with the offshore contractor Saipem working on a diverse range of offshore construction projects in Europe, Africa and South East Asia. He has a broad background in submarine pipelines and ancillary activities such as rock placement, dredging and subsea tie-ins together with heavy lifts, structure fabrication and installation.
Following his time at Saipem, Richard joined Nord Stream 2 as Lead Engineer Offshore in the team responsible for the nearshore pipelay and shorepulls in Germany and Russia and the subsequent above-water-tie-ins. Following the successful completion of these workscopes he then moved into the offshore pipelay team responsible for pipelay and the engineering and execution of the post-lay ploughing and rock placement.
Richard joined StreamTec Solutions in 2022, where he led the offshore scope of the OAL project as Offshore Construction Manager, responsible for the management and coordination of offshore operations on the fast-track project. At its peak, parallel operations for the pipelay, dredging and backfilling works resulted in more than 35 vessels working simultaneously on the project.
Currently Richard is in charge of offshore construction under the ‘Owner’s Engineer’ contract with Gasgrid, supporting the development of offshore hydrogen pipeline infrastructure in the Baltic Sea, namely the BHC and NBHC projects.
Richard’s strengths are in the development and implementation of offshore construction projects, with experience from early-stage concept development and scope definition, through contract tendering to project execution management including regulatory and certifying authority closeout ready for operations. His technical proficiency combined with proven expertise in interface management and coordination positions him as a key figure in delivery of successful offshore projects.
